Everton captain Seamus Coleman has been linked with a move to West Ham United with David Moyes keen on a reunification.

Everton is off to a flying start this season, winning 5 games in a row this season. While James Rodriguez, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison and Allan have garnered a lot of praises for their displays, there was very little talk about of Seamus Coleman before yesterday. The Irishman had a top-notch performance yesterday and his pleasing displays have given rise to transfer rumours to West Ham United.

£63k. This is the fees that Everton paid in 2009 for Seamus Coleman. 11 years later, Seamus Coleman has turned into an absolute icon of a player and close to getting the legend status at Goodison.

There have been ups and downs but he has constantly managed to win the confidence of the Everton faithful. His longevity and sheer determination to do absolute best for the Royal Blue jersey handed him the captain’s armband.

Last season, many fans thought that his performances are dropping, more of an embodiment of the entire team. There were questions raised whether he was the best option to play as a right back for the Toffees, with rumours of a new right back arrival picking pace.

Jonjoe Kenny returned to Everton after his successful loan spell at Schalke last season. He was thought to be the one challenging Seamus Coleman for the starting spot. 5 games into the season, performances have been contrasting.

I am not saying that Jonjoe Kenny has been under impressive or woeful. In fact, I vouch for Kenny to be the heir to Coleman’s spot in the long run. But, so far, Seamus Coleman has simply been magnificent and miles better than Kenny. There’s no way the Irishman is losing his starting spot to Kenny.

Yesterday, the 31 year old kept Wilfried Zaha at bay and constantly bombarded forward when a chance presented itself. He set up the first goal and didn’t let the intensity drop even when Crystal Palace were pressurizing Everton.

The fine run of games and eye catching displays has seen struggling West Ham United take notice with manager David Moyes keen to bring Coleman in order to provide stability, experience and leadership to the Hammers team.

According to Mirror (via Sportslens), David Moyes is plotting a reunion with Seamus Coleman.

Every Evertonian has selfless respect for David Moyes but he simply isn’t having Seamus Coleman.

The transfer links make absolutely no sense. Agreed, West Ham United need defensive options after their horrific start to the Premier League, losing two games out of 2 and lingering in the relegation spots, but, Coleman will never make a move to West Ham United.

It is very likely that Moyes’ pursuit will end way before it begins. Carlo Ancelotti has heaped compliments for Coleman and there is no way the club and the manager will let the player go and there’s no way Coleman will even think of bidding farewell to Everton.

Seamus Coleman is likely to follow Leighton Baines’ footsteps, who once was his partner in crime. At this moment there are no signs of the Irishman slowing down. But age waits for no man.

The inevitable will surely come and the right back will slowly run out of juice. However, seeing the current level, that time isn’t coming anytime soon.

As for West Ham United, they can look at other options in the market.
