Due to injuries, Everton have been searching for new central defensive options and one possible target is Torino’s Gleisen Bremer, but they may now face competition from Leicester City for his signature.
Ever since the injuries to Mason Holgate and Jarrad Branthwaite, Everton have been forced to look at bringing in another centre-back to cover for them.
A plethora of names have been thrown around and one of them is the Brazilian defender Bremer who is currently playing in Italy’s Serie A.
It’s been obvious for a while that Carlo Ancelotti’s first choice for a new defender, would be Chelsea’s young Englishman Fikayo Tomori.
The Blues want a loan for this season with an option to buy the young centre-back, if Chelsea are prepared to consider such a deal. That however, looks increasingly unlikely.
But Bremer’s name also surfaced quickly along with as usual Jean-Clair Todibo, who has been a long-standing link and both rumours haven’t gone away.
With less and less chance that the deal for Tomori will be possible and Todibo’s move complicated by a prohibitive transfer fee, Bremer might indeed be a viable option.
Now though according to reports today, Leicester City are apparently entering the race for him too as they dealing with their own central defensive problems.
The Foxes lost another defender on Sunday as Jonny Evans went off during their spectacular 5-2 thrashing of Manchester City at the Etihad Staduium.

So the midlands club are also having to try and bring in some reinforcements before the window closes on the 5th October.
Bremer is a player who seems to generally fit what both clubs need.
He’s young, a strong defender but at least according to Whoscored.com he’s not the most accomplished in terms of passing the ball, something that is important to how Ancelotti’s teams play.
Again, as we’ve previously mentioned, he is it seems available for a very reasonable fee of something like £5 million, which makes him a lot more affordable than Todibo, at least initially.
Whoever Everton are focusing on for their defensive addition, they need to move fairly quickly, especially if other clubs are interested in them too.
We don’t want what last summer to be repeated as the Toffees focused all their efforts on signing a Chelsea centre-back, Kurt Zomua and ended up not getting him, so failing to bring in another central defender before the window closed.
