Everton could think of signing Leicester City winger Demarai Gray as a successor to Theo Walcott as the Foxes are open to selling the Englishman.
Everton have signed the likes of Allan, James Rodriguez, Abdoulaye Doucoure and are on course to sign Ben Godfrey. However, more arrivals are not ruled out but before that Everton will hope to ship out players to lighten the wage bill and make space.
Theo Walcott’s future is uncertain. Even though Carlo Ancelotti insisted in one of the press conferences that he left Walcott out of the squad simply because of too many players, it looks as if the Englishman is set to be axed. The Times (via HITC) reported that Everton are trying to offload Theo Walcott as he enters the final year of his contract.
The Englishman joined Everton from Arsenal in 2018 for a fee of £20 million. However, his performances have done little to justify his price tag. Now that he is into his final year of his contract and on the wrong side of 30, there is a common idea that he may not be able to add much to the table especially considering the massive squad quality upgrade.
Even though the Toffees may find it difficult to get him off the books, nothing is set in stone in the transfer market. In the end, the Toffees will have to seek a replacement on the right wing. James Rodriguez plays on the right wing but could be drifted in the attacking midfield role if the Merseysiders have an outright winger.

Leicester City wants to sell Demarai Gray before the end of the transfer window, as per the Mirror. The Foxes signed Cengiz Under recently and have Ayoze Perez as the other right wing option. Gray is set to be left out of the squad this weekend as Leicester City aim to sell him and resolve his future.
Demarai Gray wants to leave in order to get more playing time after making just 3 starts last year in the league for the Foxes. If Everton manages to get rid of Theo Walcott, Demarai Gray could be a very viable replacement. Agreed, that he is not a complete player and there are many aspects in the game that he needs to polish but he has bags of potential, speed and ability.
The 24 year old’s engines are always revving to go and he loves to take on defenders. The pace and trickery he brings to any side will make the Toffees an even bigger threat. Of course, he won’t always be a starter but can always push and become a very important player in the squad.
At the moment there’s no clear hint what amount Leicester City want for Demarai Gray but his valuation won’t be over the roof considering that the player himself is keen to leave.
Is Demarai Gray a suitable candidate to replace Theo Walcott?
