Yerry Mina was simply fantastic today.

Defence:

Seamus Coleman: 7

Even at 31, he was blasting ahead and was in the mood to wreak havoc while going forward. He was reliable as always at the back and kept the intensity up until he was forced off due to a knock in the second half. It didn’t appear to be something serious and will hopefully be available for the biggest test on 17th October: Merseyside Derby.

Michael Keane: 7

Michael Keane continued his rich run of performances today, against Brighton and Hove Albion. Even though it wasn’t the most imposing performance with Yerry Mina being the bigger influence in the defence, it was enough to prove that Keane has shackled off his tag of being inconsistent.

Yerry Mina: 8.5

Yerry Mina was outstanding today contributing on both ends of the pitch. He scored a towering header from a James Rodriguez free kick to restore Everton’s lead. In defence, he was almost faultless and proved to be a match saving player in the backline, throwing himself in front of the ball to block shots, making perfect tackles and winning headers. The Colombian did a spectacular job in keeping Aaron Conolly quite and restricted him to very little space.

All the talk of Mina not being a reliable option and falling down the pecking order after Ben Godfrey arrival has gone to the grave, at least, for now.

Lucas Digne: 7

I am sorry that I might be repeating myself but Lucas Digne has set such high standards for himself that if he fails to reach near it every game, fans feel he could have done more. Not a classic Digne showing but again was solid in defence and was indirectly involved in two of Everton’s four goals.

The last Everton goal where he made the run to defy the Brighton player allowing Iwobi to thread the ball inwards to Doucoure was the highlight of Digne’s game for me. A top-top performance overall.
