A total of four Premier League clubs including the likes of Southampton, West Ham United and Newcastle United have made initial contact with Everton to sign Theo Walcott on loan.

Theo Walcott isn’t a key player for Everton. He never has been. Ever since his £20 million move from Arsenal in 2018, Evertonians have remained baffled as to why the Toffees paid such a huge sum for him. His career at Merseyside hasn’t gone as per the script and with him entering his last year of the contract, questions have been raised over his future.

Theo Walcott has just appeared once this season, in a 3-0 win over Salford City where Ancelotti fielded a second string eleven. The arrival of James Rodriguez has seen Walcott lose massively, so much so that he even fails to make it to the matchday squads.

Theo Walcott earns £100,000 a week and is in the final year of his contract. Everton need to cash in immediately or they risk losing him on a free transfer. There have been plenty of enquires from Premier League clubs but all the interested parties are pushing for a loan move rather than a permanent transfer.

According to TEAMtalk, West Ham United, Fulham, Southampton and Crystal Palace are all interested in taking the 31 year old. In fact, all four clubs have contacted Everton and inquired whether a loan move is possible.

The report further mentions that Carlo Ancelotti has told Theo Walcott that he can move on as the Royal Blues now gear up for the squad cleaning up process. The two London clubs, West Ham and Palace have made contact with the Everton hierarchy whereas Fulham and Newcastle have been in touch with the intermediaries. Southampton are evaluating the prospect of an emotional return.

Walcott rose through the Southampton youth ranks after switching Swindon academy for Saints academy back in 2000. The Englishman rose to prominence on the South coast and secured a move to Arsenal.

This is the time for Theo Walcott to move on. He can still fight for a place at Everton but that may go down without much success. Whereas a loan move to any of these clubs may help him to regain the confidence and touch.

As for Everton, due to no permanent takers in the market for Theo Walcott, letting him go on loan may be the best option and will =enable them to save some money on the wage bill.
