Here is a starting lineup of layers that Everton tried to sign at some point of time in the summer transfer window.

This is just a fun experiment on how a missed transfer XI would look like. Everton had been linked to at least 100 players. Some were baseless rumours while some were serious and had a lot of substance in it. We will take a look at the players where Everton were genuinely linked and made bids or enquiries about the player but the player chose to go elsewhere.

Everton’s transfer window can be deemed as a major success with a total of 6 arrivals: James Rodriguez, Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Niels Nkounkou, Ben Godfrey and Robin Olsen.

The crazy transfer drama has ended after the deadline day. Though there are whispers that Everton could still make a signing from a Championship club as the domestic transfer window is still active.

Here is how the team of Everton missed transfers would look:

Goalkeeper: Geronimo Rulli (Villarreal)

Sometime in August, news circulated that Carlo Ancelotti was not fully convinced with Jordan Pickford’s long term future at Goodison Park. This gave rise to a domino effect which saw a number of keepers get linked to Everton. Geronimo Rulli and Jasper Cillessen were closely linked La Liga keepers and even though Cillessen was a stronger link, he stayed put. As for Geronimo Rulli, he moved to Villarreal.

Everton ultimately signed Robin Olsen on loan on deadline day to challenge Pickford but Rulli was a very interesting pick too.
