Ben Godfrey reinforces the central defence.

5. Ben Godfrey

One of the two deadline day signings, Ben Godfrey adds the much needed depth in central defence. Even though the deal was agreed a long back, he could be classified as a deadline day signing based on his announcement.

Ben Godfrey joined from Norwich City and is expected to immediately provide cover to injured Mason Holgate and Jarrad Branthwaite. Godfrey’s playing style has a Rio Ferdinand ring to it- a ball playing centre back, smart and calm to carry the ball around and launch attacks.

As of now, the Toffees are in desperate need to reinforce the defence due to the Holgate and Branthwaite injuries. Once Holgate is fit he’ll draft himself back into the starting lineup which could see Godfrey slip down the pecking order. Yet, he is a valuable signing and is only going to improve in his formative years.

Hot. Can Olsen take over as Everton keeper. light

6. Robin Olsen

The second deadline day signing, Robin Olsen, arrived on loan from AS Roma. After literally scavenging for a keeper on deadline day, Everton finally managed to get hold of Olsen. Whether he was a smart signing or not? It’s hard to predict.

The errors of Jordan Pickford are increasing day by day and the Englishman has often collapsed under pressure. In order to provide competition to Pickford, the Toffees made a deadline day signing of Olsen.

However, the Swede himself is known to be error prone and has allowed some really cheap goals. Even though he has been brought to challenge Pickford, it’s unlikely that he’ll be able to dethrone the 26 year old from the No.1 shirt.
