Everton players James Rodriguez and Yerry Mina both played in Colombia’s 3-0 win over Venezula last night and both came through uninjured.

That last part will be especially welcome to Everton fans, many of whom will be sweating at the possibility of their new star playmaker Rodriguez getting hurt in these international fixtures.

Rodriguex only played 75 minutes, which will have pleased Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti. Mina was on the pitch for the whole game but also emerged uninjured.

It’s the same with Dominic Calvert-Lewin now playing for England. He scored on his debut and also came through his first game for the Three Lions unscathed.

The two Colombians are both in fine form. In fact they were the Toffees best players in their last Premier League match, the 4-2 win over Brighton and Hove Albion.

Mina had without doubt his best game in a royal blues shirt for a long, long time, if not his best ever since he joined the club.

He is certainly rising to the challenge issued by his club manager recently and well as an outstanding defensive performance, he also scored his first goal of the season latching onto a great ball from his compatriot Rodriguez.

With only new signing Ben Godfrey available to provide immediate competition to him and Michael Keane in the Blues backline, he needs to keep consistently producing these sort of efforts.

In this game against their South American rivals Venezula, they continued their excellent form. James was playing exactly as he has been for Everton, strolling about effortlessly, finding space and spaying the ball around with great vision, skill and accuracy.

More from Prince Rupert's Tower

He put one of his trademark raking cross-field passes from left to right onto the head of a team mate, but it didn’t result in a goal. No matter Colombia were already 3-0 up anyway.

In the second half the Colombians were under a bit of pressure as Venezula tried hard to get back into the match and find a goal.

Mina and his team mates had to do a bit of defending, but they held on for the win and the World Cup qualifying points.

So Everton players have been in action for their international sides and have all so far survived without any injuries as Keane also played a full ninety minutes with England and was fine.

Lets just keep our fingers crossed that this unusual luck holds in the remaining fixtures with England playing tomorrow and Wednesday and Colombia also in action again on Wednesday.
