As the domestic window closes in a week Everton are prioritising getting squad players out of the club rather than bringing in new players.

Everton have had a great transfer window with a set of fantastic signings who have radically transformed the team’s prospects.

On deadline day the Toffees brought in another outstanding young talent as they signed Ben Godfrey and then added another goalkeeper with Roma’s Robin Olsen on loan.

The Blues also let Moise Kean go out on loan to PSG so leaving the team a little light up front going into the next phase of the season.

This was a little surprising as it hadn’t seemed as though Carlo Ancelotti wasn’t looking to loan out or sell the young Italian striker in this window.

With the domestic part of the window still open, plenty of stories and rumours have been flying around of Championship players Everton might consider signing, especially Bournemouth’s Josh King and Ismaila Sarr at Watford.

Now though according to the Liverpool Echo the priority is to get those squad players out who have no future at the club.

In particular Toffees boss Carlo Ancelotti is keen to ship out players such as Yanick Bolasie, Muhamed Besic and maybe Jonas Lossl.

The club have a very bloated squad and Ancelotti has said he wants to trim that squad down to about 25 players so getting rid of the dead wood obviously makes sense.

Th club will be looking to get those players out first before possibly considering bringing in another forward before the deadline next week.

In related news, there are conflicting reports as to whether West Ham are favourites to sign King as they seek further reinforcements to sustain a decent recent run in the Premier League.

It wouldn’t be the end of the world if the Blues didn’t get another forward in.

But ideally I do think the Blues need a bit more depth as any serious or long-term injury to Dominic Calvert-Lewin would be a massive blow and would disrupt the side’s smooth functioning.

Of course there’s still time for something to happen before that deadline and given the unexpected nature of so many signings in this window, you never know..?
