West Ham United’s deal for Said Benrahma is set to collapse which will see the Hammers shift their focus to Everton target Joshua King.

It is no secret that Everton have been interested in signing AFC Bournemouth striker Joshua King. The domestic transfer window is still open meaning the Premier League teams have one more chance to raid EFL Championship clubs and strengthen specific positions. Everton allowed Moise Kean to leave on loan to PSG and didn’t sign any replacement on deadline day.

This has given rise to various reports stating Everton could land Joshua King before the culmination of the domestic transfer window. The Toffees faced competition from West Ham United with the Hammers even making a considerable bid of £13 million which was rejected by AFC Bournemouth.

The Londoners rated the Cherries striker at £13 million and the bid rejection saw them turn their head to Brentford’s Said Benrahma. In fact, West Ham United were even ready to pay £17 million + £8 million in add-ons to the Bees and a medical was also set to be scheduled for the Algerian.

Benrahma is keen to follow Ollie Watkins’ path and join a Premier League team. According to the Mirror, it now appears that the transfer is set to collapse. The report further mentioned that West Ham United are now completely focused on getting the King deal over the line. It is rumoured that David Moyes prefers the Norwegian instead of the Bees star due to the experience and versatility he brings to the team.

Benrahma’s transfer collapse is not good news for Everton. The Hammers looked set to get the Algerian which would leave the Toffees in free air to sign King. Now that Moyes’ side is back in the hunt, ready to aggressively chase the 28 year old, the Toffees will have to battle it out with the Londoners to get King.

Bournemouth value King at £17 million and any team wanting him will have to table a bid in that region. In my opinion, if the Royal Blues won’t be in much of a trouble if they do not sign or fail to sign Joshua King.

Cenk Tosun is on the road to recovery and could act as a decent backup to Dominic Calvert-Lewin once the Turk is declared fit. Ellis Simms has continued to impress and been a persistent performer in the Premier League 2. He’s done just enough to at least deserve a chance to be involved in the senior team setup.

So, if Joshua King is a genuine transfer target, the Toffees will be dealt with the blow but they have enough support to survive the load.
