Jordan Pickford was arguably a man of the match pick against Tottenham Hotspur. It finally appeared that he had learnt from his previous mistakes and was performing as per the expectations of the supporters and the team management.

Soon, the false perception burst and his sloppiness was back on display in the remaining games. Pickford reached the zenith of his career in the 2017-18 season and the 2018 FIFA World Cup and since then it has steered down the hill.

Unnecessary faults, silly mistakes and complacent attitude has cost Everton and if he doesn’t gather his act, the Toffees will continue to face consequences. In fact, Everton have been lucky enough to not be punished severely due to Pickford’s errors or else the Toffees wouldn’t have been on the top of the Premier League.

The 20 year old was given his first start by Ancelotti against Salford and the Portuguese didn’t disappoint. Everton faced League Two side Salford in the second game of the season which saw wholesale squad rotation.

Virginia was alert and rarely made any error that could result in goal. His continued dedication meant that he would land a four year extension at the club. Overall, happy days for Virginia in the month of September.
