Trips to Southampton are always tough for Everton with only one win in the last six trips. The Saints are on a good run of form with two wins and a come-from-behind 3-3 draw against Chelsea in their last three outings.

Everton will be without three starters with Seamus Coleman and James Rodriguez out with injuries. Richarlison will also be absent because of suspension. So the match just got even tougher with that in mind, here are three Saints players who could bedevil the Blues on Sunday.

1. Danny Ings

He’s emerged as a quality striker. He scored 22 times in the Premier League last season. He tied for second and finished one goal behind the ageless Jamie Vardy in the race for the Golden Boot. He’s continued in that vein with 4 in 5 games this season.

That’s almost Dominic Calvert-Lewin proficiency. He also likes to play and score against Everton. Ok, maybe he loves it. It seems if he regards it as his right to score against Everton. In the last eight Premier League matches against the Toffees, he’s scored five goals.

In the last four league matches, he’s scored three times in four matches, including both of Southampton’s goals against the Blues, last season. In addition’s he’s played for Liverpool, which makes him really toxic to Blue’s supporters.

He’s scored eight match-winning goals according to Transfermarkt. On the plus side, Southampton has won only one of the last eight league matches against Everton. However, Ings remains a thorn in Everton’s side and will give Everton’s central defenders a run around. He wears the No. 9 jersey well and is looking to stay at Southampton, according to The Athletic.

Spurs were interested in signing Ings. Saints’ Manager Ralph Hasenhuttl insisted Ings had no interest in moving to London and dismissed any reports as nonsense.

Ings was born in the area in Winchester and started off at Bournemouth before moving on to Burnley, Liverpool and finally to Southampton.
