Here is the Everton predicted XI for the game against Southampton.

Following an uneventful Merseyside derby last weekend, the Blues return to Premier League action this Sunday with an away trip to Southampton. Southampton are a side in decent form following back-to-back wins over Burnley and West Brom and a hard-fought draw away to Chelsea in their last three games. The Saints will be high on confidence and carry a threat with the formidable Danny Ings up front, who always seems to score against Everton.

It will be a real test for the Toffees this weekend with a number of key players set to miss the game. Following his sending off against Liverpool, Richarlison is suspended, while club captain Seamus Coleman will miss the game after a recurrence of his hamstring injury.

Meanwhile, James Rodriguez will face a late fitness test after picking up an ankle injury following a late challenge from Virgil Van Dijk in last week’s Merseyside derby.

Carlo Ancelotti will have some big decisions to make when it comes to picking his starting line-up, but he will certainly learn more about his squad over the next few games, particularly when it comes to whether or not their is enough depth in quality to maintain the Toffees’ impressive start to the season.

Goalkeeper: Jordan Pickford

Jordan Pickford had a rollercoaster of a Merseyside derby and could easily have seen red in the first ten minutes for his highly publicised challenge on Van Dijk, which saw the Dutchman go off injured and potentially being ruled out for the season.

He was also spared his blushes in the dying minutes after somehow allowing Jordan Henderson’s tame effort to slip past him, only to be saved by a controversial offside decision.

However, he also made a couple of top class saves that reminded people of the talent he possesses, but these stupid mistakes need to be cut out of his game if he is to have any chance of remaining Everton’s number one goalkeeper moving forward.
