Everton vs. Southampton combined XI: £15 million Saints man misses out, 42 goal Toffees man in
Keane and Mina are preferred over Bednarek and Vestergaard.
Defence:
Left back: Lucas Digne
Lucas Digne has been an integral part of the team since his arrival at Goodison. He has had a brilliant start to the 2020-21 season, looking dangerous as always in the attack while also covering himself well in the defence. Ryan Bertrand is an impressive player but doesn’t do enough to compete with Digne for the spot.
Centre back: Michael Keane
Keane has been resilient, dependable and consistent this season. He has put all his defensive woes and doubts behind this season. Keane has recorded 4.2 clearances and 1 interception per game while also looking comfortable with the ball.
Centre back: Yerry Mina
Mina too has looked a different player all together this season. The duo of Mina and Keane look rock solid and haven’t been dribbled past this season. Saints defenders Jan Bednarek and Jannik Vestergaard do not come close to the challenging Mina or Keane if the combined eleven.
Right back: Kyle Walker-Peters
Walker-Peters joined Southampton from Tottenham permanently after spending the last season on loan. The 23 year old looks a handsome addition to the side and has caught the eye of many since the start of the season. Coleman is injured and Godfrey is still very raw and an infant in his Toffees’ career, hence Walker-Peters is a direct selection over any other player at right back.
