Everton have been linked to Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara.

After a few dormant days in the transfer market, the rumour mill’s first wave has hit the shores of Everton. The January transfer window is 65 days away but the rumours have already started doing grounds. One of the most recent rumour is of Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara being wanted by Everton.

According to TEAMTalk, a host of Premier League clubs want Rangers midfielder, Glen Kamara. Southampton, Everton and Leeds United. Rangers boss Steven Gerrard fears that he could see his star midfielder leave in January amid interest and is pushing for a new deal for the Finn.

Kamara may be a wanted man in the English Top Flight but Everton cannot be his destination. Transfer links to the 24 year old make absolutely no sense. Kamara is primarily a central defensive midfielder also capable of playing as a central midfielder. Everton have a plethora of options in the midfield.

Taking stock of the current central defensive midfield role, the Toffees have Allan showcasing his A-game week in week out. Jean-Phlippe Gbamin, currently recovering Achilles tendon rupture, is another option in that role once he is fit. Fabian Delph too possesses skills to play as a holding midfielder and has done that previously for Everton.

It is highly unlikely that Ancelotti will like to bring a fourth player having similar qualities. The Royal Blues are completely covered in the holding midfielder position with a number of players at Ancelotti’s disposal.

Kamara, 24, is at a key juncture of his career where he needs to play every week rather than make a few sporadic appearances or appearances off the bench. Delph is already finding it difficult to break into the team due to Allan and Kamara’s arrival will further complicate things.

The focus for the Toffees should be to first offload players who have failed to upgrade their performances. Once these players are sent out on loan or even sold, Everton can think of reinvesting the money in players. At this moment, a holding midfielder is not a priority for the Royal Blues.

The Rangers midfielder is rated at £10 million and if a transfer war does take place among the Premier League sides, Everton need to avoid being a part of it.
