LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND – OCTOBER 17: Sadio Mane of Liverpool battles for possession with Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure of Everton during the Premier League match between Everton and Liverpool at Goodison Park on October 17, 2020 in Liverpool, England. Allan and Docuoure’s contributions could once again set the tone in the midfield.

Midfield:

Central defensive midfield: Allan

Allan has ticked all boxes ever since he has been instated in the team and he will continue to remain one of the key cogs in the Ancelotti team unless any injury issues arise. The Brazilian will be the first wall that Newcastle United will have to break.

A typical Steve Bruce team relies heavily on counter attacking and Allan will be the man tasked with breaking those counter attacks for Everton.

Central midfield: Abdoulaye Docuoure

Doucoure had a better game compared to rest of the team last week against Southampton. The Frenchman’s energy and box-to-box character will be required the most against Newcastle United. Doucoure has been fantastic defensively so far but he could still offer more in the final third. The runs in the box, the powerful shots from a distance and the ability to muscle through is what we want to see from the 27 year old.

Central midfield: Andre Gomes

Andre Gomes should come in for Gylfi Sigurdsson. Sigurdsson has improved since last season’s abysmal displays where his form spiraled downwards every game but he still isn’t as effective as Everton would want him to be.

Gomes on the other hand looked off pace against Liverpool and was dropped on the trip to St. Mary’s Stadium. With Richarlison and Rodriguez out, Gomes will have a huge responsibility on his shoulders to run the creative engine of the team. We know he’s capable enough, it’s just that he needs to turn up his game on the day the team requires the most.
