SOUTHAMPTON, ENGLAND – OCTOBER 25: Anthony Gordon of Everton during the Premier League match between Southampton and Everton at St Mary’s Stadium on October 25, 2020 in Southampton, England. Sporting stadiums around the UK remain under strict restrictions due to the Coronavirus Pandemic as Government social distancing laws prohibit fans inside venues resulting in games being played behind closed doors. Anthony Gordon is gearing up for his first Premier League start.

Forwards:

Right wing: Alex Iwobi

Despite massively underperforming in the last game, Iwobi is likely to start albeit this time on the right wing. With Walcott gone, the Toffees lack a traditional right winger and Iwobi looks the best stop gap solution. Even on Iwobi’s best day there’s no way he can fill in the James Rodriguez role and replicate a performance similar to the Colombian.

Frankly, at this point, I am not very confident about Iwobi and it wouldn’t make much of a difference whether he starts or not. The Nigerian needs a solid game to win the support of many such fans with the same opinion as mine.

Striker: Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be tasked with being the Alpha in the Everton attack. Apart from his usual goalscoring duties, he’ll also have to command the lesser experienced personnel in the frontline and try helping them out. DCL had a forgetful tie against Southampton but won’t take much time to return to his best given the current form he’s in.

Left wing: Anthony Gordon

I am rooting for Gordon to start the game. The 19 year old has working hard in training to feature more frequently and his efforts on the training ground could finally come to fruition. There’s no doubt about his abilities and its sooner rather than later that Gordon will become a household name. I am most excited to watch the young duo of Gordon and Nkounkou play on the left flank.
