Here are the Everton player ratings against Newcastle United.

Everton suffered their second consecutive defeat of the season, this time a 2-1 loss to Steve Bruce’s Newcastle United. Everton had to field an eleven that was far from the ideal lineup or the strongest lineup. In the absence of Richarlison, James Rodriguez, Lucas Digne and Seamus Coleman, Ancelotti changed the shape of the team too going for a 4-3-2-1 formation.

Everton just couldn’t create enough, a testimony of how severely the team is affected without the creative genius of James Rodriguez. Ancelotti also rotated Jordan Pickford, which was a surprise change, giving Robin Olsen his Everton debut. Callum Wilson was on target for the Toons, scoring 2 goals. Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored in the stoppage time but in the end it was a little too late inspire a comeback.

With the loss, Everton surrender the top spot of the league. Ancelotti has admitted that it was not a good performance from the side and work needs to be done. Here are the Everton player ratings:

Robin Olsen – 7

Robin Olsen broke Jordan Pickford’s record of 120 consecutive Premier League starts. The England No.1 played every league game for Everton since joining the side in 2017. That record was finally broken when loan signing Olsen got the nod ahead of the 26 year old.

Olsen produced two brilliant saves in either half to deny Allan Saint-Maximin in a one-on-one situation and Sean Longstaff effort. Olsen was one of the few Everton players who produced a better display compared to the rest of the team.
