Everton face Newcastle United at St. James’ Park today.

Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton will be hoping to bounce back from a loss last week and get the job done against Newcastle United despite being without some quality players like James Rodriguez, Richarlison, Lucas Digne and Seamus Coleman.

Steve Bruce’s Newcastle United come into the tie with a draw last week against Wolves. The Toon army will be optimistic that their star players like Allan Saint-Maximin, Callum Wilson, Miguel Almiron deliver and stage an upset for the Toffees. The Everton fanbase is on cloud 9 after a terrific start to the Premier League campaign and will certainly want their team to pass the away test with flying colours.

To know the opposition view and the mood in the Newcastle camp, we had a friendly chat with Newcastle Toons Editor Carson A. Merk (@CarsonAMerk). Here is wnhat he had to say about the game and about the firing Everton side.

PRT: What do you make of Everton’s performances so far?

"Carson: Terrible season thus far, to be fair. No, I’m joking. Sitting atop the table at any point in the season is impressive and I think Everton are the real deal. While things are a bit shaky in goal, the talent across the pitch has them able to compete with anyone and Carlo Ancelotti is a world-class manager that’s getting the best out of his squad. As an Everton fan, I’d have to imagine it’s been a fun ride and enjoyable to watch to this point."
