Everton are confident that James Rodriguez will be fit for the Saturday clash against Manchester United.

Everton’ sufferings were evident without their creative engine James Rodriguez last week against Newcastle United. The Colombian was ruled out of the game due to a minor injury with no return date revealed by Carlo Ancelotti. James was seen holding his left hamstring towards the end of the game against Southampton.

A week prior to the Newcastle game, the Italian made a similar announcement that the 29 year old is ruled out for the Southampton game only to make a complete U-turn on his statement just after 24 hours. In the end, the playmaker did feature against Saints.

The former Real Madrid man has a poor injury record and the recent statement saw many Everton fans have their heart in mouth, fearing absence of James for weeks. However, to everyone’s relief, Rodriguez’s absence isn’t going to be long, which is a huge boost to the entire team.

According to Liverpool ECHO, Everton are assured that Rodriguez will be fit in time to feature against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United. The Toffees manager said that the talisman is recovering well from the minor injury that forced him to miss the away game at Newcastle.

This comes as a huge injury boost for Everton who massively struggled in creating chances against the Toons. Andre Gomes and Gylfi Sigurdsson were tasked with role of creating and providing service to Dominic Calvert-Lewin. It was clearly evident that neither of the players could fill in the playmaking role that Rodriguez carries out with alarming ease.

Everton fans will breathe a sigh of relief as the Colombian is likely to return against the Red Devils. The 29 year old will be key in unlocking the United defence, being the creative lynchpin of the team. James’ stats speak for himself, creating 5 big chances, 2.8 key passes per game and 2.7 dribbles per game.

Apart from Rodriguez’s return, Ben Godfrey is also expected to be in contention after missing the trip to St. James’ Park. Coleman’s availability still remains unclear with an injury update expected in the press conference before the game.
