Everton tracking 24 year old proves Ancelotti has lost faith in Iwobi and Bernard
Everton are tracking Cruz Azul winger Orbelin Pineda.
Everton’s attack consisting of Dominic Calvert-lewin, Richarlison and James Rodriguez look as one of the most gelled and productive trios in the league. Sadly, the players who play as their second fiddles or as a deputy to the trident have failed to even make half the impact that Rodriguez, DCL and Richarlison have made.
Especially, Alex Iwobi and Bernard have simply not been up to the mark. Everton have taken a huge loss in the case of Iwobi, paying £34 million to Arsenal and not getting the player quality when you pay such big bucks.
The Nigerian too often loses the ball, often failing to adjust to the pace of the game and gets lost. His presence almost becomes non-existent at times which further proves his inability to adapt to the demands of the game.
Iwobi was underwhelming against Southampton as he covered for the suspended Richarlison. He was substituted after an abysmal 45 minutes and the man who replaced him, Bernard, wasn’t much effective either. The Brazilian is slightly better than Iwobi in terms of getting involved in the play, creating chances in the final third but his lack of physicality hurts his overall game.
Neither of the wide men have been able to prove their capabilities and it seems as though the Everton faithful have fully lost their faith in the duo. Everton management also appears to have lost confidence in Iwobi and Bernard and are tracking a number of options.

According to 90min, Everton are tracking Cruz Azul winger Orbelin Pineda. The Mexican is being evaluated by a number of Premier League scouts with the likes of Everton, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Wolves tracking the 24 year old. Apart from English teams, Ajax, PSV, Porto and AS Monaco are also in the running for Pineda.
The Cruz Azul forward is said to be keen to take the next step in his career and make the lunge to Europe to further develop his game. Pineda’s current contract at Cruz Azul runs till December 2021 and there’s a high possibility that Premier League clubs will start circling around him.
Now, there’s no concrete interest that the Toffees are going to seriously consider Pineda let alone table a bid but these links prove that the club is getting fed up of the inadequacies of Bernard and Iwobi. Ancelotti will start looking for better wing options in the market sooner rather than later.
Forget Pineda or any other winger that is being linked to Everton, if Bernard and Iwobi don’t get their act together, they may be frozen out of the team with Anthony Gordon being preferred over them.
Gordon actually deserves to be higher than the aforementioned duo in the pecking order. The 19 year old offers directness, pace and energy which neither Iwobi nor Bernard can offer.
Everton tracking Pineda hints that Iwobi and Bernard’s future is far from secure at Goodison.
