Everton target Arkadiusz Milik wants to leave Napoli in January but there’s a catch.

The curious case of Arkadisuz Milik has taken yet another turn. It was evidently clear that Milik had no future at Napoli after his move to AS Roma fell through. The arrival of Victor Osimhen completely sidelined the Poland international.

Milik is in the final year of his contract but has been frozen out of the team. The relations between Napoli and Milik’s entourage are not good with the player refusing to sign a new deal. In summer, Gli Azzurri wanted to renew his contract before selling him to avoid letting him go for a cheap price. Once the Roma deal fell through, Milik was linked to Everton and Tottenham Hotspur.

Initially, a loan move was touted but the Serie A giants demanded an upfront transfer fee of £25 million which was a ridiculous fee to demand considering the attacker was in the final year of his contract. The asking price has come down to £14 million plus add ons as per AreaNapoli and a bid could be expected in the January transfer window.

However, according to journalist Niccolo Ceccarini via CalcioNapoli24, there is a high possibility that Milik will have to renew his contract in order to be sold in Janaury. The Pole wants to remain in contention for the Euros next year and is desperate to leave Naples because game time is simply not a possibility at Stadio San Paolo.

Napoli want to get the highest amount which will allow them to further strengthen the side. The Neapolitans are calling the shots here as they have the stars working in their favour. They are in no need of a striker like Milik and could do without him. As for Milik, he wants to play this season to keep his candidacy alive for making it to the Poland national team for the Euro 2021 and might have to eventually concede to Napoli’s demands.

If Milik does agree to sign a contract extension in order to be sold, Napoli can further put pressure on the interested parties to cough up more cash. Everton, Tottenham Hotspur are the English sides interested whereas AS Roma and Fiorentina are also tracking the 26 year old.
