Everton midfielder Allan has opened up on his move from Napoli to Merseyside.

The Toffees have had a brilliant summer transfer window with some big name arrivals thanks to Carlo Ancelotti’s pulling power. Brazil midfielder Allan made the switch from Napoli to Merseyside, reuniting with Ancelotti after a memorable spell at Stadio San Paolo.

Everton Sports director Marcel Brands did an excellent job in signing Allan at a highly economical price. Credit must be given to him for not surrendering to Napoli’s demands, being as stringent as possible and bringing down the asking price of £35 million to £25 million including add-ons.

Allan’s arrival has been one of the best things that have happened to Everton this summer. Hollywood signing James Rodriguez has revitalized the attack but the arrival of Allan is being seen as a major tactical victory.

The Toffees lacked a real enforcer who could guard the defence post the departure of Idrissa Gana Gueye and as seen in the previous seasons Andre Gomes and Tom Davies have miserably failed to provide support in that role.

Allan has instantly hit the ground running, guarding the back four, committing those meaty challenges and tackles and breaking down opponent attacks. When speaking to Globo Sporte, Allan opened up on why he moved to Goodison and how he’s settled in Merseyside.

"I was at Napoli for five years, mostly victorious, with good games, and great campaigns in the Champions League.Unfortunately, some bad things happened, both for me and for the club. Things that happen anywhere, we get sad, of course. My time at Napoli had come to an end, it was time to change air, get to know a new culture, a new club. I hope to do great things at Everton, as I did at Napoli.Richarlison has helped me a lot in the beginning of the season, on arrival at Everton, on the pitch too. I hope that we can continue making good games, at the club and at the Brazilian team."

Allan and Richarlison have joined the Brazil squad for the upcoming International matches. Allan was named as the replacement to Fabinho who has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury. The Selecao face Venezuela and Uruguay in the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
