Everton are today being linked with a possible move for Hungarian midfield playmaker Dominik Szoboszlai in the latest speculative transfer rumour.

Given their higher profile and big spend in the last transfer window, it’s not surprising Everton are being linked with more moves in the coming January window.

These reports come from 90min.com who  claim the Toffees are one of a number of European clubs eyeing the Hungarian international.

Looking at the number of clubs being quoted, there is hardly a major team on the continent not apparently following the progress of the Red Bull Salzburg midfielder.

The 20-year-old has been making his mark this season with some impressive displays for club and country and so inevitably such transfer stories are going to emerge.

He is a goalscoring midfielder who tends to operate on the left hand side or through the middle and has already netted five times so far this season. He’s young as well which fits with the transfer strategy of Marcel Brands.

While the Blues certainly do need more goals from midfield, I think the better bet would be a move for Real Madrid attacker Isco in January, another player the club have been strongly linked with.

Carlo Ancelotti knows the Spanish star very well and his quality and experience would be a major boost for Everton in the new year and hopefully help with a push for Europe and perhaps winning a trophy too.

But in addition to possible attacking reinforcements, it’s looking increasingly likely that Everton will need to consider bringing in possible reinforcements in January at right-back.

That’s particuarly relevant given the struggles with injury that Seamus Coleman is experiencing and the lack of confidence in Jonjo Kenny’s ability to step up.

On top of that there is the fact that Richarlison’s absence through suspension and James Rodriguez’ constant problems with fitness, left the Toffees dangerously light up front.

There’s no guarantee that the Blues will be active in the new year transfer market but I suspect given all these issues a loan deal or two might well be on the cards.
