Everton can offer Chelsea want away star a way out
Everton can offer Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud a way out of the club.
The summer transfer window at Stamford Bridge saw the arrivals of Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Edouard Mendy, Thiago Silva and Ben Chilwell. Werner was signed from RB Leipzig adding supreme attacking quality to the front line.
Werner’s arrival has made life difficult for Olivier Giroud, who has been at Chelsea since 2018. The Frenchman has lost his place in the team and fallen below Tammy Abraham in the pecking order. The 34 year old came very close to leaving Chelsea but in the end a move didn’t materialize.
Inter Milan were said to be very keen on the striker as the Nerazzurri continue their search for a deputy to Romelu Lukaku. Now, according to the Guardian, Giroud is ready to consider a January exit from Chelsea in order to get regular playing time ahead of the Euros in summer 2021.
The 34 year old is one of the first names on the French team sheet and France boss Didier Deschamps relies heavily on Giroud’s aerial and build up play qualities. Deschamps has also advised his star striker to move unless the situation changes at Chelsea.

It is important for Giroud to secure as much playing time possible and staying at Stamford Bridge is not going to help him, unless Frank Lampard gives him more minutes. One start in six appearances indicates that Lampard doesn’t really count on him and could do without him.
If Giroud wants to move away from Chelsea, Everton could provide him with an escape route. The striker, despite being 34, can serve to be Dominic Calvert Lewin’s deputy and do a much better job than Cenk Tosun.
Giroud has years of Premier League experience which could be handy for the Toffees. The Frenchman lacks pace but makes up for it with his aerial domination and linkup play. We have seen that Lucas Digne likes to whip crosses in the box and with a threat like Giroud around the goal area, you can bet on Everton finding the back of the net most of the times.
The Toffees are touted to make a move for Arkadiusz Milik in January but the Napoli striker is also a target for AS Roma, Tottenham Hotspur and Inter Milan. Giroud has a contract till 2021 and Everton can get a cut price deal for the forward.
Considering the Premier League experience, price tag and overall compatibility, Giroud is a healthier option.
