Dominic Calvert-Lewin is the top scorer of the league!!

3. Dominic Calvert-Lewin is unstoppable

Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored two goals, two poacher’s goals by being in the right place at the right time. He now is the leading scorer in the Premier League with 10 goals so far. Last season, he had a total of 15 in all competitions, so far this season, he has 13.

Calvert-Lewin says Ancelotti’s influence has helped him immensely.

"He wants me to improve. He’s on at me every day – every day – to keep getting in the box, hitting it first time, scoring goals. I’m just like a sponge taking it all in. (via Boot Room)"

The list of strikers Ancelotti has mentored is long and legendary and Calvert-Lewin is working his way into that group.

The England international wasn’t short of confidence as took the Everton No. 9 jersey. It’s a number that is deeply linked with Everton history and embedded into the way supporters wants their team to play. Dixie Dean, Tommy Lawton, Bob Latchford and Duncan Ferguson have worn that number and Calvert-Lewin is starting to make a case to be included in that group.

There is more to his game than goals.

At 1.87 meters (6-foot-2) he has the height to be a target man and he is becoming one and a mobile one at that.

He makes himself available as an out for the Everton defence and more often than not the ball seems to stick to him or is able to bring teammates into play with flicks and touches. He’s also adept at winning free kicks as he did a few times against Fulham when Everton seemed trapped.

He told the Mail Online:

"I think the first-half was a representation of me benefiting for a new system where I am getting chances from wide areas, crosses coming in. That’s what I like, to be in the right area at the right time. It was a game of two halves, really. In the second-half, we didn’t have much of the ball and it was more about digging in and winning fouls and free-kicks. ‘It was more of a lonely role but we dug in and got the win."
