Real Madrid are said to be interested in Everton target Samuel Chukwueze.

Everton bid a temporary farewell to right winger Theo Walcott in the summer leaving the Toffees without a traditional right winger. The arrival of James Rodriguez meant that Ancelotti would deploy the Colombian at right wing. However, the former Real Madrid player is not an enthusiastic player when it comes to performing his defensive duties and is often almost non-existent in defence.

On the opposite flank, Richarlison is a tremendously hard worker, adding a lot of support defensively. No doubt James is a magician but his slightly passive behaviour in defensive duties sometimes unbalances the side. One solution is to bring another right winger and allow the Colombian to drop as a No.10.

Alex Iwobi has been tried at right wing but the Nigerian has clearly not done well for himself while playing on the right flank. Right wing back is a different story but Iwobi clearly has been underwhelming whenever deployed on the right in a front three. This has prompted fans to think that Everton may go into the market to bring a right winger.

Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze has attracted a lot of interest from the Premier League. Everton, Liverpool, Wolves, Chelsea and Manchester City have been credited with an interest. Now, according to Spanish media outlet La Razon, Real Madrid are also interested in signing Chukwueze.

The report also claims that Everton are willing to bid for the Nigerian who is considered to be a bright talent of the future, The 21 year old has attracted a lot of attention due to his exponential rise in a short span of time. However, Chukwueze is contracted at El Madrigal until 2023 and has a gigantic release clause of £80 million.

Villarreal have no reason to accept a lower bid, especially for one of their biggest gems who is wanted by a host of clubs. There’s a very low probability that Everton will go all out and activate the release clause.

Real Madrid too are trying to save capital in order to bring Kylian Mbappe in summer 2021 so a move for Chukwueze looks insensible in January when such a huge transfer fee could be involved.

Nonetheless, the Toffees need a right winger and bring James slightly in the centre, behind the striker. I feel that’s the best way to extract the maximum out of Colombian without compromising on the defence on the right flank. If not in the January transfer window, a move for another right winger could be touted next summer.
