A 4-2-3-1 would see James Rodriguez in a more central role.
4-2-3-1: A double pivot of Allan and Doucoure
An alternative formation for Saturday could be 4-2-3-1. Former Everton managers Roberto Martinez, Ronald Koeman and Marco Silva all favoured the 4-2-3-1 and had some success. The formation has the potential to combine the positives of both the 3-4-3 and the 4-3-3 for Ancelotti.
It uses four players in attack, three goal scoring midfielders behind a central striker, which would mean Everton can keep scoring like they did earlier in the season using 4-3-3. However, it would also mean that Rodriguez can play more centrally like he did in the 3-4-3, preventing him from being a liability in defence.
The 4-2-3-1 would also allow Iwobi to continue playing out wide on the right, although not exactly the same as playing wingback. It would allow him to keep his place in the team and hopefully continue his great form.
Having both Allan and Doucoure sitting in front of the defence against Leeds this weekend would also be a real bonus. The 4-2-3-1 could be key to the Toffees keeping there first clean sheet for a long time.
