Juventus want to get rid of Everton target Sami Khedira in January.
Juventus have been doing a lot of chopping to their squad recently. The summer saw the arrival of Andrea Pirlo as manager and the first and foremost thing the Italian did was to rejuvenate the squad by discarding unwanted players who seemed to be past their prime.
Gonzalo Higuain and Blaise Matuidi faced the axe due to Pirlo’s idea of establishing a young core unit in the team. Douglas Costa was loaned to Bayern Munich due to youthful arrivals of Dejan Kulusevski and Federico Chiesa in the attack. The 30 year old Miralem Pjanic was on his way to Barcelona while secondary options like Daniele Rugani and Mattia De Sciglio were also shown the loan exit door.
However, the Old Lady continues to further work on squad rebuilding with more room for departures. Juve outcast Sami Khedira is next on the axe list of the club hierarchy. The German is out of favour and has not donned the Bianconeri jersey this season, strongly indicating that his time in Turin is up.
His contract is set to expire next summer and by now it is crystal clear even to a blind man that Khedira is not going to stay beyond summer 2021 at Juventus. The 2014 German World Cup winner has gone the distance to show his admiration for Carlo Ancelotti and his desire to play in the Premier League. The 33 year old also went onto say that there have been exchanges between him and Ancelotti.
"If the opportunity arises to move to the Premier League, that’s an option. There are talks and an exchange. We never lost touch after our time together at Real Madrid. (via Goal)"
Since then a number of reports have emerged that state Everton’s interest in Khedira ahead of the January transfer window. Ancelotti wants to add experience in the middle of the park and sees Khedira as a viable option. However, the Toffees received a blow when Daily Mail reported that Khedira has no intention to leave Juventus until next summer that is after seeing out his contract.
However, according to Calciomercato, Juventus continue to work on Khedira’s exit in January for financial reasons. The 33 year old midfielder earns around £130,000 a week, practically for not even being named on the bench or spending time on the bench. Juventus wants to save as much money as possible ahead of a mega summer window where they might attempt luring Neymar to Turin.
Khedira’s exit is set in stone. It just remains to be seen whether the discharge happens in January or next summer.
