3. Felipe Caicedo

Caicedo is another striker who’d be signed as a backup to Calvert-Lewin, but Caicedo is a more realistic option, rumoured to cost the Toffees around £4m. The Ecuadorian is already familiar with the role of a substitute striker due to that being his role at Lazio, but Caicedo is a master at scoring goals off of the bench, he could be Everton’s Edin Dzeko, with him grabbing late equalisers against Torino, Juventus and Zenit.
This shows Caicedo’s composure and even the big occasion like Champions League football doesn’t know his composure. He already has some experience in English football, playing 35 games for Manchester City which weren’t the most successful, but it means it won’t take as much for him to adapt to the English game.
The problems start to appear when you see Caicedo’s age. The forward is 32-years old which in most cases means he’ll only be on the decline, and the forward wants the opportunity to play first-team football, this is something he simply wouldn’t get close to for Everton unless it was in cup competitions.
Everton would probably only get 1/2 years out of him which is a problem because Everton’s key substitutes should arguably be players who Everton can build their time around when the more senior players start to decline, and the Toffees already have a young striker who looks like he could be a future goal-scoring menace in Ellis Simms.
I feel like Caicedo would be very similar to Tosun if he joined, somebody who can’t provide the impact he can in Serie A in the Premier League, and I feel like if Toney rumours can strengthen then Everton should definitely push for a young budding striker instead of an ageing striker.
