Besiktas want Everton flop Cenk Tosun in January.
The tale of Cenk Tosun has taken yet another turn with Besiktas president Ahmet Nur Cebi wanting to bring the Turk back to Super Lig in January. The 29 year old striker has had numerous links to Turkey and a move cannot be completely ruled out.
Everton does lack squad depth in the striker’s role and Tosun is the only backup to firing Dominic Calvert-Lewin. The 29 year old has struggled to prove his worth in England since his move to Goodison in January 2018.
A distraught Tosun left Everton on loan in January 2020 in order to find some form at Crystal Palace. An ACL injury put him on the sidelines for almost nine months, only returning to action in late October.
Since he was injured during the summer transfer window, Tosun wasn’t in contact with any of the clubs regarding a transfer or a loan. Now that he is fully fit, there is one team who wants to take him. According to Journalist Paul Joyce, Besiktas are interested in a loan move for the 29 year old.
Besiktas president Ahmet Nur Çebi: “I would like to see Cenk Tosun in Beşiktaş. If Everton thinks about sending on loan, we will do whatever is necessary. A local football player, we have problems in this regard. We will check the situation in January. Our door is open to Cenk.”

The Toffees have been looking at striking options in the market, constantly getting linked to forwards like Arkadiusz Milk, Ivan Toney and Felipe Caicedo. The Milik links have been carried forward from the summer while Toney and Caicedo links are fresh.
Everton striker Moise Kean is also on loan at PSG and could move to Paris Permanently. Even though the loan deal doesn’t involve any buy-clause, PSG Sporting director Leonardo is determined to try his luck and attempt signing Kean permanently.
Tosun has never been convincing about his qualities and it appears that he’s not very much suited to play in England. Royal Blues can sanction a loan but before that they need to find the replacement or else Everton will be left with zero depth in the striker’s role.
Here are some of the fan reactions to Tosun’s link to Besiktas:
Would leave us extremely short in that area.
