Michael Keane has been a very important player for Everton this season.

Defence:

Centre back: Ben Godfrey

Ben Godfrey has had a slow and steady start to his Everton career and is getting comfortable with the role in a three man defence. He still makes errors but does cover up and puts in tremendous shifts when required.

Godfrey averages 1.6 tackles, 3.6 clearances and 1.3 blocks per 90 minutes. Burnley’s two striker formation means that Godfrey will likely mark one of the strikers.

Centre back: Michael Keane

Michael Keane has found consistency and turned into one of the most reliable defenders in the Everton ranks. Last couple of games has been shaky for the Englishman but looking at the bigger picture, Keane has been solid throughout. The 27 year old’s distribution and the long passes could be very important against Burnley.

Centre back: Yerry Mina

This might come as a surprise as to why Mason Holgate is being dropped. Arguably, the best player of last season, Holgate seems to have retreated in his shell after his injury. The injury has taken a toll and hasn’t fully recovered on a match fitness level. He’s physically fit but is lacking the sharpness in his play.

Ancelotti may just want to tinker with the side and bring Mina back to the lineup. The Toffees are due to play 8 games in December and there’s no way the team can function without regular rotation.
