Alex Iwobi sparkled in the right wing back role.
Midfield and Wing backs:
Right wing back: Alex Iwobi
Iwobi was brilliant against Fulham in the right wing back role, bombarding forward and even contributing defensively. However, last week, he was a lost kid in the park in the left wing back role without any knowledge and sense regarding his position. The Nigerian can be much more productive on the right flank than on the left and needs to be brought back to the RWB role.
Tom Davies was not looking very comfortable either in the wing back role which is why he’ll likely drop out of the team and find himself on the bench.
Central midfielder: Allan
Allan has been the best signing for Everton topping James Rodriguez. His addition has massively upgraded the midfield and covered most of the loop holes. He’s an enforcer, a beast who guards the defence and also ventures forward with those press breaking runs. His quality of making such runs will come in handy against the Clarets who generally defend deep.
Central midfielder: Abdoulaye Doucoure
Doucoure struggled in the last game against Leeds United and lost the ball numerous times. When in possession, the Frenchman looked clueless at times which makes his Leeds performance the worst in an Everton shirt.
However, his abundant energy and powerful drive will be a key factor against Burnley. In a 4-3-3, Doucoure generally sits deep in the right midfield to cover the right back because of James Rodriguez’s lack of defensive commitment. However, in a slightly free role in a 3-4-3, the 27 year old can show his box to box quality and make those timed runs into the box, adding threat in the final third.
Left wing back: Niels Nkounkou
I am very excited to see Nkounkou play against Burnley. It will be very intriguing to see how the 19 year old responds to the responsibility thrown at him and whether he can be efficient in a left wing back role. While he may not play the entire 90 minutes, I am gunning for the French starlet to start against the Clarets.
