Lazio striker Ciro Immobile, linked to Everton, is also wanted by Guangzhou Evergrande.
Lazio main man Ciro Immobile is easily one of the most threatening strikers in Europe. The Italian has set the stage on fire ever since he switched from Borussia Dortmund to Lazio, scoring 135 goals in 189 games. The 30 year old equalled Gonzalo Higuain’s 2015-16 of 36 league goals last season as Lazio made an unsuccessful attempt to dethrone Juventus.
Despite ageing, Immobile is showing no signs of slowing down, making clubs more and more interested in Immobile. Ahead of the next year’s summer transfer window, there are murmurs that Immobile’s future may lie away from Lazio.
AC Milan and Everton have been interested in signing the Italian. In case the Zlatan Ibrahimovic contract extension didn’t work out, the Rossoneri were ready to bring Immobile to Milan. Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti also thought about signing the 30 year old in the summer to reinforce the attack. Had he arrived at Goodison Park, the fans would have gone crazy to see a two striker duo of Immobile and Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the Premier League.
Serie A giants Napoli also attempted to bring Immobile to Naples before launching a bid for Victor Osimhen. However, Le Aquile slapped a price tag of €50 million on the prized asset which no one was willing to pay for.
As the January transfer window is due to open in 25 days time, activity has already begun in the market. According to Calciomercato.it, Guangzhou Evergrande boss Fabio Cannavaro is dreaming about bringing the Lazio striker to China. Guangzhou are planning a lucrative offer for the Italian. However, there are no indications that Immobile wants to leave Rome.
Immobile is not in that stage of his career where he needs to leave Europe. He’s still at the top of the league and a crucial piece in the Lazio jigsaw. Hence, this report seems to be a bit of a product of the rumour mill.
