Former Tottenham forward Christian Eriksen has endured a difficult time in Italy with Inter Milan, so could he be a player Everton might rescue from his purgatory in Serie A?

There have been constant stories about players Everton might allegedly be interested in signing when the January window opens in a few weeks time.

Eriksen is not one of them but he’s a very similar player to one that the Toffees have been heavily linked with recently: Real Madrid’s Isco.

Isco would seem the more likely player of the two if such a move happens, as he is a player that Carlo Ancelotti has previously managed very successfully.

Like Eriksen in Italy, he has found it very difficult to get regular playing time in Madrid under the Real manager Zinedine Zidane and could be very interested in a move abroad to revive his career.

Both these two are versatile play-maker types who can operate across the forward line or in midfield. There’s not much to choose between them either in terms of their strengths and qualities.

The Danish international is very good at using the ball creatively and scoring goals. This is something Everton do need more of as they try to get their faltering season back on track.

I think that this together with his Premier League experience would make him an ideal addition if he were available perhaps on loan. Despite his travails in Italy he’s still been scoring freely for Denmark.

Eriksen has it seems been frozen out in Milan and might be very keen to return to the Premier League again if the right deal comes along.

In the latest stories he’s being linked with a move back to London and West Ham United. In truth West Ham get linked to nearly every player that ever seems to be in a transfer story!

The London Stadium might not be the right place for him even though ex-Blues boss David Moyes has been doing a fine job there recently.

If he were to come back to English football, then Goodison Park could well be the ideal place for him under the tutelage of a manager with the credentials of Ancelotti.

However, this is all just speculation on my part. Besides Ancelotti has been talking about how content he is with his current squad, which appears to mean he is ruling out signing new players in January.
