Alex Iwobi is expected to fill in the right wing role in absence of James Rodriguez.
Attack:
Right wing: Alex Iwobi
Iwobi seems to be getting better with each game. After a miserable run of games, the Nigerian looked very assuring as a right wing back. He was a constant threat going forward and did all the tracking back that was required against the Clarets.
One problem that can arise is that Iwobi is not the best crossers of the ball. His crosses are often over hit or lack the speed required. This won’t be a problem if he can make up for it through his quick passing and combination play.
The Nigerian likes to take on defenders and invite pressure making Iwobi vs. Ben Chilwell an intriguing matchup.
Striker: Dominic Calvert-Lewin
With the hectic festive schedule coming up, Ancelotti will need to rest Dominic Calvert-Lewin but certainly not against Chelsea. If there’s any hope, it will be because of DCL. The English striker is on a roll, scoring ruthlessly when an opportunity presents itself. His ability to be at the right place at the right time will keep the Chelsea defenders on their toes.
Kurt Zouma is one of the strongest Premier league defenders and can really frustrate DCL in the air. The golden boot leader will have to play smart to dodge Zouma and Thiago Silva. The Toffees need to make goal scoring chances for the Englishman and the rest will be taken care of by him.
Left wing: Richarlison
Richarlison had a forgetful tie against Leeds United but bounced back strongly against Sean Dyche’s side. It has been a long time since the Brazilian has been the focal point of Everton with much of the load shared by James and DCL.
There’s a real opportunity for Richarlison to be the talisman and uplift the Toffees. He can really test Reece James and always supplement DCL. There’s no question about the Brazilian’s work rate who will help Nkounkou out with his defensive contributions.
