Ben Godfrey was outstanding.

Defence:

Mason Holgate – 8.5

Deployed in an unfamiliar position, Holgate made the most of the chances and really suffocated Timo Werner of Chelsea. Holgate struggled in games as it appeared that he was lacking match sharpness but today he was right on the money, looking alert, intelligent and making the right decisions. Holgate also had decent attacking forays, combining with Alex Iwobi at times.

Yerry Mina – 8

Tasked with keeping Chelsea’s man in form Olivier Giroud silent, the Colombian did was pretty much successful. He cancelled out Giroud’s physical presence and complemented Michael Keane well. One or two nervy moments here and there but overall, a satisfactory outing for the Colombian.

Mcihael Keane – 8

Keane aided Mina in keeping Giroud at bay and cutting down balls that were aimed at the Frenchman. Keane looked reassuring at the back as always and was once again a very reliable outlet for passing and distribution. One of those performances where nothing in particular went wrong.

Ben Godfrey – 9

Yet another solid display in an unfamiliar position. Play him in any position and he’ll respond with an impressive performance. Godfrey has really stepped up in the last couple of weeks and deserves all the praise for that. He schooled Kai Havertz, not allowing the German even a bit of space and chance to show his quality. Godfrey made key interceptions and put in some brilliant challenges throughout the game.
