Gylfi Sigurdsson had converted from the penalty spot to seal the win.

Midfield:

Allan – 8

A nightmare for the opposition and a dream for the Everton defence. Allan was always there, breaking down Chelsea attacks while also involving himself in the Everton attacks. The Brazilian made a few press breaking runs, taking advantage of Chelsea’s selective pressing and even though the moves didn’t result in goals, it was a joy to watch.

He did make a few misjudged passes and lost possession but looking at the bigger picture, Allan did what he does the best.

Abdoulaye Doucoure – 8

Abdoulaye Doucoure is a work horse, showing his industrious nature yet again in the middle of the park. He did gave away the ball cheaply but was always a reliable and smart option to play the ball to. The Frenchman also threw himself to block a Werner shot, which was important, considering the end result of the game.

Gylfi Sigurdsson – 8

A cool, calm, composed finish from the penalty spot to give Everton the lead. Really showed quality and initiative today, especially in the absence of creative lynchpin, James Rodriguez. He was making the right passes on the counter, feeding some inviting balls to Richarlison on the break. His set-piece deliveries were almost perfect, finding an Everton player on most of the occasions. The Iceman had one of the best games of the season so far.
