Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli is wanted by Everton.

According to the Mirror, Everton could end Dele Alli’s purgatory at Tottenham Hotspur by offering him a way out of the club. Another Spurs outcast Harry Winks is also touted with a move as the young Englishman is in desperation to secure playing time in order to remain in contention for the Euros 2021.

Toffees boss Carlo Ancelotti admires the English duo and sees them as viable solutions to Everton’s current problems in the middle of the park. Winks and Alli have faced difficulties in breaking into the starting lineup under Jose Mourinho this season. Winks has made 11 appearances in total whereas Alli has had 3 fewer outings than him.

Spurs are open to a loan move for both of their deserted midfielders and as soon as this news hit the transfer markets, a host of clubs have joined the race. PSG have been long term admirers of the former MK Dons man and will launch an operation to sign him on loan in January.

Whereas Winks wants to get out of the club in order to make the cut for the Euros 2021. Everton could make use of either of the players in order to tackle the issues in midfield. However, getting Alli will be a more compatible option.

An upgrade on Gylfi Sigurdsson?

Sigurdsson had one of the best performances of the season against Chelsea but looking at the bigger picture, the Iceman has continuously struggled to make an impact. The 31 year old has failed to help James Rodriguez in playmaking duties most of the times. Yesterday, was an exception but his overall creative slump is not acceptable when the team is pushing for a European spot this season.

If the Toffees can manage to pull Alli to Goodison, even on a temporary basis, it will be regarded as a huge coup. However, the negotiations may be a tricky task considering that Tottenham may perceive Everton as direct rivals in the race to Europe. In such case, PSG will be the favourites to the Englishman in the January transfer window.

Taking a look at Winks’ case, he shouldn’t be Everton’s priority as of now. The 24 year old is a midfielder on the defensive side and a proper player in managing the transitions. The Merseysiders have that department covered by Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure. At the moment, the urgency should be shown for a second attacking midfielder.
