Gylfi Sigurdsson starred in Everton’s 1-0 victory over Chelsea.

Midfield:

Central defensive midfield: Allan

The Brazilian could be key in guard the defence from the likes of Jamie Vardy, Harvey Barnes and Ayoze Perez. James Maddison is in stellar form and can create goal scoring opportunities from anywhere. Allan could be the man to close down Maddison and keep him in check. The 29 year old is a stamina reservoir and won’t necessarily wear down quickly, so resting him right now is not a priority.

Central midfielder: Abdoualye Doucoure

Doucoure is enjoying an extended attacking freedom due to James Rodriguez’s absence. Otherwise, the Frenchman is often seen covering the gaps and helping the defence on the right side due to James’ minimal defensive contributions. However, Doucoure will have be vigilant and remain close to Allan in order to stop a counter from Leicetser.

Central midfielder: Gylfi Sigurdsson

Gylfi Sigurdsson converted from the spot against Chelsea to deliver 3 points in Everton’s bag. He was influential in the entire game, dangerous from his deliveries and sharp in most parts of the game. The Toffees need more such performances from the Iceman, especially when James Rodriguez is absent. Had he been unimpressive against the Blues, I would have selected Andre Gomes ahead of him but owing to a handsome display, Sigurdsson would be confident entering the game.
