Yerry Mina’s contributions on both ends of the pitch were phenomenal.

Ancelotti can really get the best out of anyone

This is something that Everton fans dreamed of when Ancelotti joined the Toffees, that the three-time Champions League winner could get the best out of clearly talented, but underutilized or footballers with a lack of motivation, but we’ve seen exactly that with the Italian.

Yerry Mina, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Alex Iwobi and Michael Keane are all players who have a lot of ability, but for one reason or another the managers before Ancelotti couldn’t get the best out of them, but each of them are impressing massively.

Mina and Sigurdsson are the two players who stood out in the game against Arsenal, with the Colombian defender taking home the Man of the Match award for a fantastic defensive display along with the goal that gave Everton the three points.

Mina had 2 tackles, 2 clearances, 1 interception and 2 blocked shots, which is by far his best game of the season so far, with his game improving more and more in this new system. His towering presence makes him a dangerous defender and an even bigger threat from corners, but he’s also been allowed to show off his passing ability.

Mina completed 93% of his 60 passes along with 4 accurate long balls out of 7. If Mina can continue to improve in each game he plays then Ancelotti will really struggle to pick his centre-back partnership when Digne returns to action.

Sigurdsson has also impressed recently since James’ injury Sigurdsson has really stepped his performances up and has proven he can be a commodity to Everton and today he proved that, with Gylfi being the third-best player on the pitch (based off average rating). The Icelandic attacking midfielder was able to grab the assist from a corner for Mina, along with 2 key passes and completing 91% of his passes.

It’s great to see all these players working their hardest to fulfil this goal for the Toffees, if all the players continue to perform like this then the Everton squad may be much stronger than the fans believed it to be.
