Here are the Everton player ratings

Everton added more misery to a dysfunctional Arsenal side as the Toffees emerged as victors at Goodison Park thanks to Yerry Mina’s touring header that proved to be the winner of the game. With pressure piling up on Mikel Arteta, the Gunners tried their level best to find an equalizer in the second half and came close on certain occasions. However, Ancelotti’s men kept their nerves and soaked the pressure to walk away with three points.

Carlo Ancelotti did leave many by surprise when he opted to start Mason Holgate in right back role despite the availability of regular right back Seamus Coleman. However, considering the success of the defence line, it was an understandable decision. Tom Davies replaced the injured Allan, forming a double pivot with Doucoure in the middle of the park.

The win over Arsenal puts the Toffees temporarily second on the table with Tottenham to play Leicester on Sunday. This win caps off a year of Ancelotti’s reign as the Everton boss and what a way to celebrate the first anniversary.

Here are the Everton player ratings:

Jordan Pickford – 6

Was largely uninvolved before the Arsenal penalty. Made a costly error in the second half which could have resulted in a goal had the post not been his good friend. We have seen this happen on a number of occasions where he’s flapped at a cross often putting the team in trouble, he needs to improve in such situations. Pulled off a marvellous save late in the stoppage time when the Gunners were pressurizing the Toffees in the push for an equalizer.
