Dominic Calvert-Lewin hit a buzzing left footed stike that almost ended in the net.

Attack:

Alex Iwobi – 7

Another great shift put in by Alex Iwobi. The Nigerian was able to create adequate space for himself and took on Mohammed Elneny and Kieran Tierney at times. He made a couple of crosses to find DCL’s head but instead went straight to Leno. His cross that lead to the Rob Holding own goal was an example well directed and well hit, deserves some brownie points there.

Had the vigour and intent to keep his ex-teammates on their toes, ready to pounce on their mistakes. His work-rate was outstanding today, making it evident to the world that he is progressing at a rapid rate.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 7.5

The Englishman made his 150th Everton appearance and almost capped it with a goal. His header from Iwobi’s cross was never going in but thanks to Holding’s nudge that saw the ball roll past in the back of the net. He may have now gone three games without scoring but his off the ball work has been stupendous in these games.

What Calvert-Lewin has done is that he has dropped back slightly and got more and more involved. He is working on his overall game and is not just concentrated on the goal-scoring part which is very motivating to see in a striker.

Richarlison – 6

Richarlison ran up and down the left flank providing support to Godfrey when required and putting his industrious character to full display. The Brazilian made some dangerous runs with the ball and threaded a brilliant cut back in Iwobi’s path that was just a little short of the Nigerian. At times, he struggled to get past Ainsley Maitland-Niles and was uninvolved when required. We know the quality he possesses and can do much better.
