Andre Gomes looked off pace for most parts of the game.

Midfield:

Abdoulaye Doucoure – 6

Abdoulaye Doucoure had more responsibility defensively as Manchester United dominated large parts of the game. Unlike the match against Arsenal, Doucoure was never able to be fully set free and surge ahead to join the team in attack. His energy and pressing were pleasing to see as usual but his efforts didn’t translate into team’s state. The Frenchman was sacrificed to make way for an attacking threat in form of Cenk Tosun as soon as the Toffees conceded the first goal in the 88th minute.

Andre Gomes – 5

Gomes isn’t enjoying his current stretch with unimpressive displays one after the other. We all know that he’s capable of doing much more and being highly technically gifted, the Portuguese has enough in his armoury to turn it around.

Gomes was not very confident going forward and often chose the safe option of passing it backwards than attempting slightly more risky passes with that could open the door to a possible chance of attack. Looking out of sync, he was rightly taken off by Ancelotti for Davies. It was not a memorable night for him and we are sure he knows how to come back stronger.

Gylfi Sigurdsson – 7

Just when we thought we had seen the best of Gylfi Sigurdsson a couple of years back, the Iceman overturned the notion and racked up brilliant performances one after the other in last few games. The No.10, playing in his most comfortable position, created moments of WOW with his slick passing and beautiful dribbling.

Sigurdsson is making the most of James Rodriguez’s injury and not giving a chance of complaint to anyone. Even though tiredness got the better of him in the second half, his overall display offered optimism to the Everton followers.
