Mason Holgate will return to the lineup.

Defence:

Right back: Mason Holgate

Mason Holgate was rested against the Red Devils and will make a return to the lineup. The Englishman has been pretty solid in the right back position and even though hasn’t done something truly spectacular, he hasn’t even committed huge blunders either.

Seamus Coleman will be the preference to start against Manchester City but Holgate will slot in at right back once again against Sheffield.

Centre back: Michael Keane

Michael Keane has emerged as one of the leaders in this team with reliable performances in every game showing his tremendous consistency. Keane deserves some rest too but the defence at the moment is stretched with Ben Godfrey and Holgate playing as full backs. Jarrad Branthwaite is a possible option and I’d be happy to see the youngster get some game time but it would be Keane who would start.

Centre back: Yerry Mina

Yerry Mina has been another player who has been rock solid when it has mattered the most. Mina may not have the speed but his aerial presence offered at both ends of the pitch, make him a very important piece in the system. The responsibility of taming the likes of David McGoldrick and Rhian Brewster will be shared by Mina and Keane.

Left back: Ben Godfrey

I’d love to see Niels Nkounkou start but Ancelotti has preferred Godfrey especially after the former Norwich man has caught the eye of many playing in an unfamiliar position of a left back. With each passing game, Godfrey is settling more and more to the left back role, giving us a proof of his versatility.

From being a traditional centre back with the ability to slot into the right back position, Godfrey has gone onto become a player capable of playing anywhere across the defence and return favourable results.
