West Brom could make a move for Everton striker Cenk Tosun.

West Brom find themselves in deep waters after an abysmal start to the campaign, sitting in the drop zone at Christmas with just 7 points in 14 games. The club sacked Slaven Bilic, the man responsible to help the Baggies achieve promotion from the Championship, and replaced him with Sam Allardyce at the helm. Big Sam’s typical nature and playing style has often benefitted such clubs and has saved a number of clubs from sinking back to the Championship.

Allardyce has this typical effect, where he takes the reins of a relegation threatened club mid season and by the end of the campaign, he engineers them to safety. Blackburn Rovers, Sunderland and Crystal Palace can attest the above notion. For many clubs he’s been the ticket to Premier League safety and West Brom will be hoping that the English boss can repeat the same feat once again.

However, Allardyce will need funds and players that can help him drive the West Brom wagon to safety. The Baggies were linked to Everton striker Cenk Tosun in the summer transfer window and continue to remain a target as per Birmingham Live. Their report states that Tosun could be available on loan in the January transfer window.

Could Everton man Cenk Tosun be Allardyce’s Christmas gift?

When Big Sam was the Everton manager back in 2017-18 season, he was backed by Farhad Moshiri financially which enabled him to sign Tosun in the January window of 2018. The Turk switched countries and leagues mid season to play for Everton.

He came in like a threatening poacher in front of goal and enjoyed a fruitful time under Allardyce. However, post Allardyce left in May 2018 and since then the former Besiktas striker has struggled continuously. It seemed as though Allardyce was able to get the best out of Tosun at Everton.

West Brom have been dormant in front of the goal with just 10 goals scored in 14 Premier League games. Even though Tosun is currently out of form, Allardyce could help him regain shape and sharpness. A loan deal will work for all parties but Everton will have to then look for another backup to Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the market.

I feel Tosun has had a troublesome time at Goodison, a change of club and style could turn his fortunes especially under Allardyce, under who he experienced some success.
