Gylfi Sigurdsson will once again take the lead role of a creator.

Midfield:

Central midfield: Abdoulaye Docuoure

Abdoulaye Doucoure too has been a key player in the heart of the midfield and has played many roles. In absence of Allan, the Frenchman has added responsibilities and is doing a fine job carrying out those duties. In a double pivot, Doucoure gets a bit more freedom as Tom Davies generally holds himself back but against an attacking side like City, the former Watford man will have to restrict himself at times from surging forward.

Central midfield: Tom Davies

Davies has done well in absence of Allan and has exceeded expectations in some cases. While many touted him to leave Goodison in January, Davies has now changed the minds of many in this regard. In the last game against Sheffield, he showed his ability to even play as a deep lying playmaker, making forward runs with thrust and intent. However, like Doucoure, Davies too will have to very alert and cannot allow gaps between defence and midfield.

Attacking midfield: Gylfi Sigurdsson

Gylfi Sigurdsson has gone from one of the worst Everton players, completely losing his magic and creativity to being a top performer and match winner in some cases. The 180 degree turn around couldn’t come at a more perfect time as the Toffees hoped to minimize the loss of James Rodriguez to an injury.

Sigurdsson may look a bit jaded at times late in games but his overall impact is on the positive side. The change to a 4-2-3-1 has allowed the Iceman to play in his most comfortable No.10 role. His passing has improved, his vision has improved and his creativity has reigned supreme.
