It’s 2021 and a Happy New Year to all our readers! Today’s Daily Mail claims that Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira is in talks with Everton over a move to England and Bernard is moving the other way to join Roma.

This story about Khedira has been bubbling along for weeks now but it does seems as though the former Germany international and World Cup winner might well be coming to Everton.

The Mail claim (as we’ve reported before) that the Juventus star is desperate to get out of Turin and has his sights set on a move to the Premier League.

In this article the paper say that the other alleged suitors in the Premier League, Tottenham, aren’t in a position to afford any deal for him. That just leaves the Toffees’.

So if this story from a national UK paper is correct then presumably Blues’ fans will be anticipating their first signing of the new year.

As well as an incoming there is also further news on a player who almost left the Blues’ in the summer, Brazilian forward Bernard.

While Khedira is leaving Turin and Italy, Bernard is apparently going the other way, but he is heading for Rome to play for one of the Italian capital’s two clubs Roma.

Bernard’s Everton career has never taken off and while he has been in and out of the Toffees’ side ever since he joined back in 2018.

Despite some flashes of the talent that convinced Marco Silva to sign him on a free transfer, he’s never found any consistent form or been able to nail down a place in this Everton team.

The diminutive Brazil player was it seems due to start against Manchester City on Monday night but as that match was cancelled perhaps his last opportunity to impress Carlo Ancelotti has gone.

A move away from Goodison Park would then seem the best thing for both parties given that there doesn’t seem much of a future for him.

So if a deal can be done this month then that would at least get another set of wages off the books, although considering his likely wage demands, bringing Khedira in will probably negate any possible savings there!
