Everton have £45 million Premier League attacker on their agenda
Everton have Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha on their agenda.
The evergreen transfer link of Wilfried Zaha to Everton has reignited in the January transfer window. The Crystal Palacve talisman has been associated with a move away from Selhurst Park for a long time with the Ivorian himself wanting to move to a club with European ambitions.
Everton and Arsenal were linked in the 2019 summer transfer window but the mammoth asking price of £80 million put off the interests of the Premier League teams. The talk gained momentum once again this summer when Roy Hodgson admitted that Zaha had the intention to seek new pastures. This tipped off reports linking Zaha to Everton, Arsenal, PSG and Borussia Dortmund.
However, no bids arrived and Zaha stayed at Palace. The 28 year old has scored 8 goals in 15 games but his impressive form has somewhat fizzled out in last few games but that hasn’t stopped the reports of possible transfer.
According to Journalist Ekrem Konur, Everton, AC Milan and Arsenal have put Zaha on their agenda. Konur also mentioned that Arsenal are ready to make an official offer to Crystal Palace soon.
Does Everton need Wilfried Zaha?
Carlo Ancelotti has done an excellent job in extracting the maximum out of this squad. Even though the squad calibre has improved a lot over the summer, some loopholes still remain.
The Toffees have European ambitions and an explosive player like Zaha will be a blockbuster statement of intent. Zaha’s versatility appeals the most with his ability to play on either flank as well as a secondary striker.
Everton have a firing attack of Richarlison, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Alex Iwobi. Iwobi has unearthed a new, never seen before version of himself and is garnering a lot of praises for his displays, intensity and work rate. As for Richarlison, the Brazilian has had a topsy turvy season so far but it can’t be denied that he has a special enigma around him that makes him a treat to watch.
If Everton do manage to sign Zaha, one of the aforementioned wingers may have to make way for Zaha in the lineup and the possibility of Richarlison being removed from the lineup is close to nil. There’s no way the Ivorian will switch to any team unless he gets a crucial role in the squad.
A player of Zaha’s calibre will further uplift the squad quality but it won’t be an easy ride to beat the likes of Arsenal and Milan who are in the hunt for the 28 year old too. Additionally, a January transfer for Zaha to any team looks very complicated.
