Ellis Simms has 8 goals in 11 outings for Everton U23 team.

Ellis Simms

This is a player who I’m a huge fan of, and I believe he needs bigger competition than the Premier League 2. Simms became a recognisable name to Everton fans after scoring 37 goals in 29 appearances for Everton’s U18s, this lead to the 20-year old being called up to the U23 squad at the start of the season and it’s safe to say he has continued to impress.

The 20-year old has scored 8 goals in 11 appearances for the U23 side, with these appearances earning him some rare appearances on the bench during cup games, but it’s probably best for him if he gets a loan move to one of the lower leagues of English football, especially being only 20. Now is probably the best time for Simms to get a loan move to prove he could be the perfect backup to Dominic Calvert-Lewin that Everton have been craving.

If Simms is given a chance in League one, he could really impress and his natural goalscoring ability and physical strength, and if he does impress a lot, that could lead to a loan spell in the Championship or an increased role to the backup of Calvert-Lewin. Either way, Simms has a very bright future ahead of him, he just needs first-team opportunities to fulfil his potential.
